CEU Collection Cycles and CEU Content
We collect our Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in two year collection or reporting cycles. To find out whether you are on an "even year" or "odd year" cycle, you can go the "Verify a License" link on the home page and look yourself up. It will show you which year your CEU collection cycle ends.
When you are planning your CEUs, please remember that NAC 641B.187.4 states "a licensee may not take a program of continuing education which presents the same material he or she took during the immediately preceding reporting period." This means you cannot take the same CEU content within a four year period.
Retirement Exception to CEUs
At the time of renewal, a licensee who is at least sixty (60) years of age and is retired from social work practice, may request that the Board waive ALL BUT the legislatively mandated continuing education requirements. Currently that includes Suicide Prevention CEUs and Cultural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion CEUs. The licensee will renew their license, paying the renewal fee and their license remains current.
LSW, LMSW and LASW Requirements
Must complete at least 30 continuing education hours every 2 years, of which, 2 hours must be in suicide prevention and awareness (uploaded), 6 hours in cultural diversity, equality and inclusion (uploaded), 4 hours must relate to ethics in the practice of social work and 10 hours must be in the field of practice of the licensee. The remaining 8 hours can be in any area you wish.
LCSW and LISW Requirements
Must complete at least 36 continuing education hours every 2 years, of which, 2 hours must be in suicide prevention and awareness (uploaded), 6 hours in cultural diversity, equality and inclusion (uploaded), 4 hours must relate to ethics in the practice of social work and 12 hours must be in the field of practice of the licensee. The remaining 12 hours can be in any area you wish.

Nevada Legislatively Mandated CEU Content Areas
The Nevada Legislature has mandated certain Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements. Currently, that includes two (2) hours of content on Suicide Prevention and six (6) hours of content on Cultural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (CDEI). The link below will provide you with information on the legislatively determined content areas for CDEI. The Board is required to do a 100% audit on these CEUs.
Nevada Ethics CEU Requirements
Nevada requires that you complete four (4) hours of continuing education in Ethics. The link below will provide you with a list of approved topics that will count towards this requirement. In your renewal, you will be asked if you completed these CEUs, but you will not have to upload the certificates.
Requesting CEU Approval
ALL requests for CEU approval must be submitted to the Board as a hard copy, paper document. The Board does not accept electronic submission of CEU requests.
